How To Wall Mount Your LCD TV

So, you've bought a brand new, flat screen LCD or Plasma TV. Congrats. You've got a perfect wall ready to mount it on in the spare bedroom that will soon become your oasis. There's only one question remaining - How to wall mount your flat screen TV?

The first thing you should think about is whether you're going to mount it on your own or hire a professional. If you're uncertain about any of the following information, you're better off to hire a pro to do the job. If, however you would like to get your hands dirty and possibly make some mistakes and miscalculations so you can have a sense of accomplishment, by all means, keep reading.

After you have picked out the wall and set aside a few hours to get this job done, you should then figure out if that wall is an interior or exterior wall. Although it is not the case all the time, walls that are on the interior usually give you less trouble than their exterior counterparts.

Of course, we know you've previously made certain that your LCD TV can actually be wall mounted, right? Just in case you have not done this yet, don't stress. Though many flat screens that are on the market now are in fact wall mountable, a few early models aren't. Take a look at the box. Can you see the words “VESA Compatible” or something similar? If it's there, then you're in luck, and you can now continue. And, since you have done a little research and picked out a suitable TV wall bracket for your display, you can go right to the fun part - the tools. If you've got some of the basics in your house, including a tape measure, screw driver, and a drill, you will be good to go. It is also going to be helpful if you've got a stud finder to be sure you don't end up mounting your new flat screen in just drywall.

Once you've got an idea of where you'd like the TV, look for a stud and make final placement adjustments. You shouldn't forget to confirm you're nearby an electrical outlet or you will have a wasted screen on your wall. Once you've found studs, go ahead and affix the wall brackets to the back of the screen. You should take care of this before you place the bracket on the wall so you are aware about any adjustments that need to be made to the final placement of the mount.

Now, mark the places where anchor bolts are going to be installed and pre-drill the holes, since they can be hard to start. Also, go ahead and cut space for cabling once you place the anchors and then you will be able to run the cables. Be sure that the wall mount is lined up and sink the anchors. Once the TV brackets and wall mount are secured, ask somebody for a little help lifting the screen on wall. You are not going to want to try to lift it yourself since the TVs can be pretty awkward and heavy when being lifted alone.

Now the very best part - kick back with a cold drink and watch a movie on your new wall mounted Plasma flat screen TV.
